Committed to Working Locally

Boston, MA

Over the past year, we have had the opportunity to work on a wide number of schools in the Boston Public Schools (BPS) system through our house doctor contracts with the City of Boston, Public Facilities Department and Boston Public Schools. These schools encompass all of BPS’ grade-ranges—Elementary, Middle and High Schools, and Early Learning Centers—and the projects range from complete renovations, like for the Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, to targeted fit-outs, to HVAC and accessibility upgrades.

In total, we have worked on over 30% of existing BPS schools (marked in red on the map). Though diverse in scope, scale and cost, all of these projects share our commitment to creating healthier, safer, and more effective learning environments for the students of Boston.

These past few years have also included other municipal projects in Boston, like a 10-year Facilities Action Plan for Boston EMS Neighborhood Stations, feasibility studies for the conversion of existing City-owned facilities in support of Mayor Wu’s Green New Deal initiatives, and programming studies for new Boston Public Library branches that will be co-located with affordable housing—part of the City’s Housing with Public Assets initiative.

We believe that this work is critically important. Through practicing in the communities in which we live and work, we are able to apply best practices we’ve refined over three decades and share fresh insights cultivated on projects across the country and around the world.
