Santander Housing
Connection to the Public Realm
The building is the central element of a large multi-level housing development master plan in the first suburban ring of the Santander Bay, in northern Spain. Its hierarchical position in the development and fully commercial ground floor suggested slicing the given square floor plate with a pedestrian street. This street reinforces the inherent public realm of the commercial program and generates new ways to traverse the surrounding landscape.

Facades
The internal facades are luminous glass walls; they in contrast to the heavier exterior stone facades, reinforce the reading of a sliced object that reveals an interior. These formal operations monumentalize the building in an attempt to transform the urbanity of a rather homogenous and typical development.
