Jefferson Residence Hall

A Dynamic Student Environment

The Jefferson Residence Hall responds to the University of Cincinnati’s desire to create a dynamic environment for student life and to establish a new university standard for campus housing facilities.

  • Client: University of Cincinnati

    Location: Cincinnati, OH

    Year: 1996-1998

    Status: Unbuilt

Program

The project comprises varied facilities within its angular form. It includes a freshman/sophomore dormitory (250 beds), a junior/senior dormitory (150 beds), administrative offices, a living-learning center (study, class and conference rooms), a kitchen and dining hall, faculty apartments, as well as a public, outdoor green space.

Building Form

The complex encourages the interaction of the specific programmatic elements, striving to achieve a rich mix of social, residential and educational facilities which does not presently exist on campus. The building’s form adjusts itself to the landscape architect’s master plan and to the surrounding site conditions.
