Meriç Ozgen is a Senior Designer at Machado Silvetti, building a strong vocabulary in coastal projects, sea level rise, and construction in flood zones. She consistently carries projects from early feasibility stages into construction documents, and is highly proficient at client and consultant communications. Currently, she is the project manager for the Provincetown Mixed Use Development, Hotel and Pier projects and acts as the owner’s representative through regional and state environmental permitting with Cape Cod and Massachusetts State Department agencies.
Meriç leaves no stone unturned on site research and is skilled at conjuring up mockups and drawing for days. She’s also the in house BIM leader, advising project setups based on distilling the documentation essence of a proposed design and assists in unique project conditions. Prior to Machado Silvetti, her professional experience included high end residential to urban commercial developments to international airport renovations. She’s joined studio reviews at Northeastern, NC State, and UNCC, bridging the ideals of academia to the day to day of architecture as a discipline and profession.
She holds a Master of Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies from Brown University with a certificate from the Architectural Association in London. She’s taken advanced seminars with practicing experts in land use and environmental law, sustainable development, historic preservation and urban archeology, environmental systems, engineering fundamentals and set design. She was also cross-registered at Rhode Island School of Design for a 26-acre riverfront urban redevelopment & pedestrian bridge proposal for the I-195 parcels that was covered in the Providence press.
Meriç is a native of Istanbul with an exceptional regard for historic & waterfront contexts and water resources. She volunteers as a windsurfing instructor at a non-profit sailing school and as an admissions interviewer for Brown. She also ensures the office celebrates all birthdays on budget and on schedule along with her dog Kar.
