Jaes Lee

Jaes Lee is an artist and architectural designer that aspires to learn, collaborate, and fabricate interdisciplinary forms of space and artifacts. Jaes is often inclined to explore the proximity of conventional boundaries and ideas as his experimental approach seeks insight within and beyond the profession, looking for opportunities that may be overlooked or unappreciated. He appreciates the iterative process of design; looking back, pushing forward, and taking side steps to extract special moments. Jaes has been involved in a wide range of projects including different phases in quick studies, concept design, schematic design, and construction documentation. His particular interest in fabrication and making models has led him to be involved in most physical models produced for the office.

Jaes graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design I in 2022 and joined Machado Silvetti soon thereafter. His thesis “Pre- Peri- Post- Para- Silos”, speculates and unravels the physical and psychological associations of educational silos (i.e. buildings/structures vs concepts/strategies). He investigated the ways in which these are fundamentally contained, concealed and inaccessible, and proposed an intervention intended to enhance the interplay across creative practice and academic learning.
